ANTH 111 Introduction to Anthropology Introductory overview of the major divisions of anthropology: cultural and physical anthropology, archaeology, and linguistics. ANTH 170 Physical Anthropology & Archaeology This course introduces the subdisciplines of anthropology, the concept of culture, genetics, the evolution of the human species, the development of human culture up to the historic period, including the appearance of domestication and the origin of the state. ANTH 171 Introduction to Cultural Anthropology Nature and development of culture utilizing illustrated data drawn from literate and nonliterate peoples of the world. ANTH 172 Introduction to Archaeology Introduction to basic field and laboratory methods used by archaeologists to understand and explain past human society.
