An introduction to the application of the principles and methods of psychology to the workplace. Specific topics include employee selection, training, organizational behavior, leadership, conflict and cooperation, motivation, job satisfaction and morale, performance appraisal, and stress in the workplace.

Principles of the normal range of adjustment mechanism in behavior as it responds to life situations and changes. Prerequisite: Psychology 111 or consent of instructor.

PSYC 280/380 Introduction to Health Psychology
Health is not just about physical ailments and taking medicine. One’s thoughts, emotions and behaviors are all influential factors in health. This course examines how biological, psychological, and social factors interact with and affect health. Students will gain an understanding of the important role that psychology plays within the health care system. Everyone has experienced some kind of health issue. I encourage you to relate your own experiences to the topics we discuss in class. This course will consist of lecture, discussion, and group work.

PSYC 353 Adolescent Psychology
A study of human development during adolescence. Special attention given to young adolescent needs and implications for educational practice in the middle grades. Prerequisite: PSYC 111.

MEHC 221 Fundamentals of Case Management
Content will include basic emphasis on case management, important issues in working with clients, and learning practical skills regarding communication. The course is based on the premise of empowering clients through collaboration with appropriate providers.

MEHC 262 Mental Health Management
This course is an introduction to the skills in observation, assessment and treatment for working with people who are experiencing mental illness. Common diagnoses, treatment modalities, and assessment procedures will be explored.

MEHC 265 Service Learning Practicum
As an extension of the competencies developed in subsequent course work, this course consists of a 160-hour internship in an approved human service setting. The course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to develop and apply program-related competencies and skills. Prerequisite: 1) All other core curriculum course must be completed with a grade of "C" or better prior to students enrolling in MEHC265, and 2) Students pursuing an Associate of Applied Science in Mental Health will be required to complete 20 hours of volunteer work and a reflection paper prior to enrolling in MEHC 265.
