HIST 106 Middle Eastern Civilization from Islam to Present Time A survey history of the civilizations of the Eastern Mediterranean since the rise of Islam to the time of the formation of the present nation states. HIST 207 U.S. & Current World Affairs A study of the United States and Current World Affairs. HIST 208 U.S.: 1932 to Present A history of the United States 1932 to present. HIST 211 World Civilizations to 1500 An introductory survey of world civilizations to 1500. HIST 212 World Civilizations since 1500 An introductory survey of world civilizations since 1500. HIST 220 North Dakota History A survey of North Dakota history. HIST 221 History of the American Frontier A history of the American frontier. HIST 222 History of the Western Frontier A history of the western frontier. HIST 223 History of the Lewis & Clark Expedition A historical overview of the motivation, preparations, and exploits of the 'Corps of Discovery' (1804-1806) that was led by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. Their successes, failures, and legacies will be examined. HIST 224 American Studies I American Studies is an interdisciplinary seminar class in the culture of the United States. Subjects vary from year to year and will be topical, focusing on either a specific era or theme in American history. HIST 225 American Studies II American Studies is an Interdisciplinary seminar class in the culture of the United States. Subjects vary from year to year and will be topical,focusing on either a specific era or theme in American history. HIST 235 U.S.: The Roaring 20's A history of the United States in the 1920's. HIST 239/339 The U.S. and the Vietnam War A survey of the United States and the Vietnam War. HIST 251 Introduction to Public History Introduction to history career paths outside of the classroom including museums, historical societies, historical preservation, and historic sites. HIST 252 Introduction to Museum Work Introduction to the variety of careers available and procedures used in museums and historical societies; curatorial, administrative, conservation, research, and education. HIST 257 The Cold War This course examines the causes and the ideological background of the Cold War, the development of the superpowers, the ideological nature of these opposing societies, and how and why the Cold War ended. HIST 259 Women in European History 1400-1800 HIST 260 Women in America Women in America from pre-colonial times to the present. Focuses on experiences of typical women of the past, including minorities. HIST 261 American Indian History Survey of Native American history, emphasizing diversity of historical experience. Themes include cultural persistence, leadership and activism, and strategies adopted by Indian communities for coping with change. HIST 265 Families in America Varieties of family experiences in America from European colonization to the present. HIST 268 Rural America American rural institutions and culture, agricultural practices, economic developments, politics, and public policies from the colonial period to the present. HIST 270 North Dakota Indians and Multicultural Studies A multicultural study of American minority groups that concentrates on North Dakota Native Americans and gives special attention to African and Mexican-Americans.
