Dahlberg Named Interim President of Valley City State University

BISMARCK, N.D. - The North Dakota State Board of Higher Education today confirmed the appointment of Dr. Margaret Dahlberg, current vice president for academic affairs at Valley City State University (VSCU), as interim president at VCSU starting June 16. Dahlberg will take over once VCSU President Steven W. Shirley begins his new appointment as president of Minot State University.
"We have great confidence in Dr. Dahlberg and her ability to lead Valley City State University during this transitional period," said Kirsten Diederich, chair of the State Board of Higher Education and the VCSU presidential search committee.
"With 18 years of experience at Valley City State, Dr. Dahlberg deeply understands the culture and the needs of the university," said Larry C. Skogen, interim chancellor of the North Dakota University System. "As a leader in the development of multiple new programs, the Great Plains STEM Education Center and director of the Strategic Planning Committee, Dr. Dahlberg has the skills and experience to continue the university's mission of innovation and transformation."
Dahlberg holds a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Wisconsin - Platteville, as well as a master's and doctorate in English from the University of North Dakota. Dahlberg was an active faculty member at VCSU from 1996-2009 including serving as the Communication Arts Department Chair and Chair of the Curriculum Committee for 10 years. She continues to be an adjunct professor of English teaching one course per semester. She is a current member of the NDUS Academic Affairs Council, and has served as vice president for academic affairs since 2009.
