Base Realignment Grant Funding


TIME-LINE FOR FIRST ROUND OF CENTERS OF RESEARCH EXCELLENCE
BASE REALIGNMENT GRANT FUNDING
July 13, 2011


July- October 2011: UND and the Grand Forks Base Realignment Impact Committee (BRIC) will use an agreed upon process to identify proposals to support and advance to the Centers of Excellence Commission.

October 2, 2011: According to State Board of Higher Education policy, UND shall submit a brief synopsis to the Chancellor of any applications it plans to submit.

November 1, 2011: Deadline for submission of proposals to be considered during the first round of the program. NOTE: All applications submitted to Commerce must include the university president's signature and a letter of support from BRIC.

November 1 - 9, 2011: Commerce staff conducts completeness and compliance review of the applications. Applications found to be incomplete or in noncompliance with statute and/or Commission policy will be disqualified.

November 1 - 22, 2011: Commerce staff conducts due diligence on the applications including visiting with applicants and private sector partners when appropriate.

November 10, 2011: Proposals found to be complete and in compliance are forwarded to Commission for review.

November 23, 2011: Due diligence report from the Department of Commerce forwarded to Commission for review.

November 28- December 2, 2011: Commission conference call meeting to determine if any independent, expert reviews or additional due diligence is needed.

December 5 - 9, 2011: Presentations from applicants on Base Realignment Grant proposals before the Centers of Excellence Commission.

December 14, 2011: Centers of Excellence Commission meeting to act on applications and notification to applicants.

January, 2012
: Centers of Research Excellence funds could be made available to the universities.
