UND Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Thomas DiLorenzo names Dr. Josh Riedy Vice Provost and Chief Strategy Officer

Vice Provost and Chief Strategy Officer Joshua Riedy
University of North Dakota Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Thomas DiLorenzo has appointed Joshua Riedy as Vice Provost and Chief Strategy Officer.
Riedy, who previously served as UND CIO and also was associate CIO for the North Dakota University System, will report to DiLorenzo and serve as a top assistant by implementing the Provost's vision for institutional use of strategic intelligence, primarily through distribution of ‘actionable intelligence' to inform planning and strategy. Riedy also will provide leadership and management to units within the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Riedy will function as UND's chief information officer. His job includes leading and facilitating technology programs in support of the teaching and research mission of the University, with focus on academic, administrative, research and infrastructure technologies.
The Vice Provost will play an active role with the UND Alumni Association and Foundation, representing the Provost's Office as the University's chief strategy officer.
Riedy came to UND in June 2007 as associate vice president for outreach services and dean of outreach programs. He was appointed as UND's CIO in 2008 and held that position in addition to his duties as Associate Vice President and Dean until assuming the role of Associate Chief Information Officer for the North Dakota University System in 2011. The Hettinger, N.D., native who was raised near Lemmon, S.D., holds a doctorate in education administration from the University of South Dakota, a master's degree in career and technical education, and a bachelor of science degree in agricultural education, both from South Dakota State University.
Before coming to UND in 2007, Riedy had served as director of the Electronic University Consortium under the South Dakota Board of Regents. In that position, he was responsible for the accreditation, coordination and quality assurance of all off-campus programs and courses delivered by each of the six South Dakota Regental Universities: Black Hills State University, Dakota State University, Northern State University, South Dakota State University, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, and the University of South Dakota. Riedy also had system oversight of academic technologies, including interactive video, learning management systems, and online student services.
Prior to that, he served as Distance Education Director at South Dakota State University, where he also had been a distance education specialist, adjunct education instructor, technology training specialist and graduate teaching assistant. Before his employment at South Dakota State University, he worked as a high school agricultural education teacher and coach in Doland, S.D.
Riedy and his wife, also a native of Hettinger, N.D., have three children.
