DSU and Dickinson Bands to combine to perform concert of familiar favorites April 22 Posted on 4/17/2012
The Dickinson State University Concert Band along with the Dickinson City Band will join together to perform Sunday, April 22, at 2:30 p.m. in Dorothy Stickney Auditorium, May Hall.
Both bands are under the conduction of Dr. Michael Compton, DSU director of bands. The DSU Concert Band will present musical works including James Hosay's "Peris," and a medley of familiar melodies from George Bizet's popular opera "Carmen." The Dickinson City Band will perform works from Robert W. Smith, James Swearingen and Victor Lopez. The two ensembles will also combine for a few numbers, including a medley of big band hits from the Count Basie library.
