The Council on Basic Writing, an affiliate of the Conference on College Composition and Communication, has recently selected Ms. Michelle Stevier-Johanson of Dickinson State University as a member of its executive board.
Stevier-Johanson is the writing center and supplemental instruction and tutoring coordinator for the Academic Success Center at DSU and is also an adjunct lecturer of English for the Department of Language and Literature.
Writing on behalf of the executive board, Dr. J. Elizabeth Clark, after a competitive process, extended the invitation for Stevier-Johanson to join the group, which serves as an advocacy group for developing developmental writing pedagogy and policy.
Clark, a professor of English at LaGuardia Community College of The City University of New York, expressed the board's excitement about Stevier-Johanson's, "ideas for moving basic writing forward on a national level." As a board member, Stevier-Johanson will attend several meetings at CCCC's yearly conference, including CBW pre-conference workshops and executive board meetings, and the executive board meeting of the CCCC.
