UND's own Cindy Juntunen receives American Psychological Association presidential citation

Cindy Juntunen, professor and training director for the doctoral program in counseling psychology, as well as the associate dean for research and graduate education in the College of Education & Human Development, recently received a presidential citation from the American Psychological Association.
This award distinguishes Juntunen as a nationally recognized expert in the education and training of professional psychologists.
Actively involved in multiple training-related activities across many years and at local, state and national levels, Juntunen has significantly contributed to policy making, advocacy, research, teaching, mentoring and administration.
Her numerous accomplishments include chairing the Council of Counseling Psychology Training Programs (CCPTP) and the Council of Chairs of Training Councils, serving as an essential member of the Joint Conference of Training Councils, helping to develop competency benchmarks and addressing the internship-match imbalance.
Juntunen received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of California, at Santa Barbara (1994), a Master of Arts in Pre-Counseling Psychology from Ball State University (1989), and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of North Dakota (1987). She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
This award is a testament to Juntunen's superior knowledge and skills in the field of psychology.
